Erik Satie

In 2009, in late December,

When the city was also locked down for a while,

We've been listening to classical music

And watching plays at your place.

With French tan on my shoulders,

I was still impressed

By the beauty of the world,

And we've been gazing at the same stars

In your bedroom

And falling asleep in each other's arms

After having seen

One more drama.

Time to recall

The peak of our youth,

Your vivid imagination,

Your alluring smile

And a sensitive, sincere heart.

How far are we

From that moment now?

I look for you

And I still keep

Your presents,

And I still remember your voice

When you called me from Ukraine.

At the Orly airport

In Paris

I was so happy my feet couldnt touch the ground,

And every time I crossed borders

I would cross them with you.

So we cuddle up

Under the same blanket,

Our dark hair entangled with the artificial 'starlight'

And we keep imagining

A theatre of our own,

While Eric Satie

Creates a firm background

For our memory and emotions

To be linked for a long time

With those cold and hectic days

Of the university campus being closed

And our minds and souls

Being as close as pissible.

You fall asleep,

Keeping my hand in yours,

And we fly above the whole planet,

Swinging on constellations

As if they were liana

In the jungle.

I miss the way we used to be connected

And our endless inspiration,

While memory brings back

The best moments

Of our spiritual unity.
