Stand for Unity

The red stripes are flowing,

and the stars are shining bright,

but what else are you to do,

but kneel at the sight?

Listen for the familiar song,

that fills our nation’s heart.

Lock arms for our country,

instead of driving it apart.

Black lives matter,

absolutely they do,

And yes, maybe we won’t understand,

the hard times they have been through.

But now is a time of change,

But can it ever last?

If we keep holding on to the mistakes,

that draws us back to the past?

Did Jackie Robinson kneel before the flag,

before he was accepted?

Or did he play with all his heart,

to show blacks could be respected.

When you look at the flag, can you hear the shots

of the fallen soldiers who passed?

What about the ones who survived

how could you forget about them so fast?

We say we’re doing it for a cause,

so why not take real action?

stand for the unity of our country,

And not for social acceptance.

If it’s the attention you want,

the attention you’ll get

but don’t kneel down,

because there’s something you’ll forget.

The flag represents us all,

And that doesn’t mean just you,

so stand for the flag,

for our nation of red, white, and blue.
