Olney Hymn 43 Prayer For Patience
Lord, who hast suffer'd all for me,
My peace and pardon to procure,
The lighter cross I bear for Thee,
Help me with patience to endure
Lord, who hast suffer'd all for me,
My peace and pardon to procure,
The lighter cross I bear for Thee,
Help me with patience to endure
There is a fountain fill'd with blood,
Drawn from Emmanuel's veins;
And sinners, plunged beneath that flood,
Lose all their guilty stains
My God, till I received Thy stroke,
How like a beast was I
So unaccustom'd to the yoke,
So backward to comply
Heal us,
Emmanuel
here we are,
Waiting to feel Thy touch:
My song shall bless the Lord of all,
My praise shall climb to His abode;
Thee,
Saviour, by that name I call,
Too many,
Lord, abuse Thy grace In this licentious day,
And while they boast they see Thy face,
They turn their own away
Almighty King
whose wondrous hand Supports the weight of sea and land;
Whose grace is such a boundless store,
No heart shall break that sighs for more
No strength of nature can suffice To serve the Lord aright:
And what she has she misapplies,
For want of clearer light
How long beneath the law I lay In bondage and distress;
The saints should never be dismay'd,
Nor sink in hopeless fear;
For when they least expect His aid,
The Saviour will appear
Breathe from the gentle south,
O Lord,
And cheer me from the north;
Blow on the treasures of thy word,
To keep the lamp alive,
With oil we fill the bowl; 'Tis water makes the willow thrive,
And grace that feeds the soul
The Lord's unsparing hand Supplies the living stream;
What thousands never knew the road
What thousands hate it when 'tis known
None but the chosen tribes of God Will seek or choose it for their own
A thousand ways in ruin end,
