From A Dying Poet#1

I got a death sentence today,
Today? I think it's been here
For a long while.
My shaky hands scribbled
More times than I could ever have done
Sending out letters like a postman
Waiting for the one that would be accepted.
With thoughts that keeps
me awake all night
Brooding questions of
What if I was gone
Before the letter was received?
What if they needed my consent
But I faded already into a dim light
How patiently would the mail wait
In my inbox!
So many what ifs
But the day seems to be near
I could feel my heart beat quicken
And my fingers instinctively input
The emergency details.
My sentence is announced!
Yet I'll still scribble my heart away
Until a tomorrow that'll never come.
