He ran alongside the bus all the way across town,
He didn’t break a sweat as he jogged up to the corner where my bus stopped.
I waited in the line to exit, I tugged on the hem of the suffocating blue tunic.
It was hot, too hot.
Too hot, too hot.
I stepped off of the yellow school bus, waving to the driver as I got out,
And
“HELLO!”
She thrust her hand in my face, I jumped and looked at him,
A camera covering his eyes
I was on camera
So
I extended my hand, the woman’s face already gone.
She shook it, she waved it up and down like a trophy.
