Young are our

Like babies they

The wombs they blest

Not healed

And yet - too

Into each spaceA cold earth

On colder face.

Quite still they

These fresh-cut

Clutched in

Like winter

But they will not

When called by

To burst with

And

They sleep

In silent

As crosses

And helmets rust.
